Missions

We are called by God to serve our neighbors. There are many opportunities for service in our community and our world.  The biggest way to help right now is to give. You can do this through our giving portal by putting the name of the organization in the memo.

Grace Children’s Hospital, Haiti

Grace Children’s Hospital, founded in 1967, is recognized as Haiti’s leading medical facility dedicated to the treatment of children with tuberculosis (TB). Each year, the hospital receives thousands of children who are suffering from TB, HIV, and other diseases. For more information, click here.

Waples Memorial supports the mission of Grace Children’s Hospital by sending money and supplies, being on the board, and making mission trips. You can support the current need for PPE and other COVID related needs in Haiti by making a donation. Watch for more information on how we will do our annual Race for Grace fundraiser this year!

Heifer International

Heifer International works in 21 countries around the world to strengthen local economies and build secure livelihoods that guarantee a living income to local farmers. To learn more about all the ways Heifer supports people, click here

As a Church, we support Heifer International every year at Christmas. It is a great way of giving an alternative gift as you can “give” someone a goat, sheep, pig, or even bees!

Early Response Team

The mission of the Early Response Team is to bring a Christian presence in a time of disaster. Waples UMC ERT was created a few years ago and has as many as 30 on the team. The team also have a fully equipped trailer ready at any moment for a call out. If you would like to be a part of this amazing outreach, please contact the church office.

One + One Reading

Waples UMC has partnered with Terrell Elementary School to read one on one with the students. Every Tuesday, members of the congregation go to the school to read but they also form a wonderful relationship with the students and teachers.  We hope in the Fall of 2021 to continue this ministry.
