Music Minister

REPORTS TO:                           Senior Pastor

COORDINATES WITH:            Administrative Council & Committee Chairs as needed for scheduling and correspondence

 

Responsibility:  Chancel Choir, Youth & Children’s Choirs, Worship planning, Special programs during the Easter and Christmas seasons, and worship leadership

 

Position Summary:

The Music minister is a part-time position responsible for planning, directing, coordination, and overseeing the music for Waples ministries and worship.  This individual will serve on the worship planning team with the pastor, worship committee, and communicate with the organist and others involved in music programs.

 

This position requires a love for the Lord and a heart for worship, proven leadership, and communications skills, extensive music ministry background, technical knowledge (working with our Proclaim media for worship services), vocal and instrumental skills.  The individual must possess an excellent ability to plan, organize and implement music programs, as well as experience in conducting rehearsals with persons of all ages.  As one response to this “call to ministry,” there is a need to recruit, organize, train and empower volunteers.  

 

Principle Responsibilities:

 

  • Direct the chancel choir with weekly rehearsals and worship.

  • Direct the youth and children’s choirs.

  • Schedule special music in all worship services.

  • Lead congregational hymns and praise music at all worship services.

  • Attend weekly worship planning meetings with the pastor.

  • Attend Worship Committee meetings - 4 or 5 times a year.

  • Participate in VBS - an evening program in July for one week.

  • Create a week-long children music camp in August.

  • Participate in Project Transformation program as needed (summers - 7 weeks)

  • Maintain the music library and equipment. 

  • Assist with budgeting for the music ministries.

  • Establish goals and objectives related to the music ministries.

  • Create and implement with pastor and team a new praise worship experience.
